A very common problem we see a lot of in the 80/105 series Landcruiser’s, is that the chassis cracks where the Panhard mount sits on the chassis. Also, where the radius arms mount to on the front diff housing can crack as well. In some cases, we have seen the Panhard mount completely fall out of the vehicle! In severe cases the front radius arms fall out too. We have seen completely stock vehicles come into the shop with Panhard mounts cracking, but usually it’s when the vehicle has been lifted, and it is driven hard (as they’re supposed to be). driving these vehicles hard puts a lot of stress on the chassis, causing it to crack and need fixing. Typically, the radius arm mounts crack due to the caster correction bushes, which put a lot more load on the mounts then it was designed for.
